Detia Degesch Automatic Dispenser

The Detia Degesch automatic dispenser is designed for automatically dosed addition of Phostoxin, Magtoxin tablets and pellets to the grain stream. The modern, economic method of grain and feed insect pest control in silo cells.

The dispenser doses the fumigant into the commodity/feedstuffs that needs to be fumigated in pellet or tablet form (PHOSTOXIN or MAGTOXIN) thereby guaranteeing even distribution which in turn serves to protect the stored goods and improve the quality.

Mode of action:

The Automatic dispenser simplifies the fumigation technique and can easily be installed in virtually all silo complexes. It ensures a uniform distribution of Phostoxin or Magtoxin Tablet and Pellet within the grain.

The automatic dispenser may be mounted in various locations. The most suitable one are:

  • At the manhole of the silo bin to be filled
  • At the point where the main receiving elevator discharges grain into the headhouse conveying system

J-System

This circulation system controls precisely dosed and uniform air exchange within the grain mass in every storage facility, regardless of size and construction type. This ensures controlled release of phosphine from the Detia Degesch fumigants in gas-tight buildings. It is intended for use mainly in silo cells and on ships. The Detia Degesch J-System is easy to install and operate. It can even be adapted to structures with no ventilation system.

Advantages of the Detia Degesch J-System:

Faster and more uniform phosphine distribution.

Mode of action:

Instead of placing the fumigant inside the grain mass, it is applied on the surface of the pile. After a brief delay, outgassing of the phosphine begins in the empty space above the grain mass surface. After the J-System is activated, the air above the surface of the grain mass is sucked off and blown through a pipe into the grain mass. This ensures uniform distribution of the phosphine gas in the entire storage unit within a short period.

This process is continued until the fumigant has outgassed completely. Reliable insect mortality is ensured by circulation of the gas and the resulting uniform gas distribution in the entire grain mass.

Products containing both, aluminum phosphide and magnesium phosphide, can be used.

Phosphine Tolerance Test

Inadequate fumigation practices lead to the development of tolerances. The reasons for this are too low dosages, too short exposure times, bad sealing of the fumigated venue and fumigation at too low temperatures.

The Phosphine Tolerance Test enables the user to gain information about resistances sensitivity of insect strains against phosphine gas. This information helps to adjust dosages, exposure times in order to control insects properly.

Mode of action

The Phosphine Tolerance Test is intended for testing the behavior and the activity of insect pests in a defined phosphine-containing atmosphere. It is a very easy-to-use field test, which can be applied within a very short period on site.

What to do if the suspicion of tolerance is corroborated?

If tolerant insects are detected during the test, the following fumigation shall be conducted considering the following rules:

  • Do not fumigate at a temperature below 10°C.
  • Check the sealing of the whole structure to be fumigated
  • Extent the exposure time to the maximum possible under gastight condition.
  • Monitor the gas concentration during the whole fumigation process.
  • If necessary increase the dosage gradually according to the local product registration.
